Sizzling Summer Reads

In a Midwestern town, far from any beach or beautiful mountain view, she watched from her window while thunderhead clouds rolled over the rooftops of the craftsman-style homes in her neighborhood.  The wind blew the oppressive heat from her yard as the lightning seemed to play call and response on either side of the horizon.  Pondering how she should spend the last few weeks of her summer vacation, she quickly glanced over to her grandmothers bookshelf.  A book she had long forgotten seemed to glow in the lightning.  As she reached for the cover, she thought to herself, “it’s good to see you again, old friend.”

One of my favorite authors, Sarah Addison Allen, has written a handful of the most magical, romantic, and sizzling summer books.  Her words transport readers to the Southern settings she loves so dearly, to the point where you can taste the sweetness in the air that she so delicately describes.

Pick up any of her novels for a summer treat.  My favorites include Garden SpellsThe Peach Keeper, and Lost Lake.
