Hello from Alicia and Natalie!
We are middle school teachers who worked together for several years and shared very similar goals ~ to model wisdom, grace, and kindness; to encourage our students to see the best in themselves, each other, and the world; to create a warm and welcoming classroom environment; and to explore beauty and inspire excellence through each of our lessons.
As our friendship grew, we found many similarities in our personal lives, as well. We are both brunettes with toothy smiles, we are the oldest of three sisters, English and social studies teachers, and aspiring writers.
From movies and magazines, to home and hospitality, to faith and family, we strive to fill our lives with lovely thoughts and things. We even share the same favorite Bible verse ~
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ~Philippians 4:8
In spite of enormous similarities, we are actually at very different ages and stages of life, something we hope translates into different perspectives on issues dear to our hearts.
About Alicia ~ I am fifty-something and retired from teaching after 28 years in the classroom. My husband and I are empty-nesters who live north of Indianapolis. I have two children, two stepchildren, and a two-year-old grandson. I enjoy a quiet life filled with simple pleasures.
About Natalie ~ I am thirty-something and a 7th and 8th grade teacher in Fairview Heights, Illinois. I am a busy mom of of three young children. I love spending time with my family, volunteering, trying new recipes, and watching old movies.
Although we live in two different states (literally and figuratively!), we continue to inspire each other to live our best lives by learning to seek, create, and celebrate a lovely life.
Thank you for joining us in our journey to learn Lessons in Loveliness!
