We believe we each have immeasurable power to make life lovelier for ourselves, our families, our inner circles, and the world. We started this blog on the first day of spring in 2016 to explore ways to seek, create, and celebrate a lovely life.
Five Fun Facts about Us ~
- We are both middle school language arts and social studies teachers.
- When we met, Natalie was a first-year teacher, and Alicia was starting her 20th year.
- We are each happily married to our best friend.
- Between us, we have a total of seven children and one grandchildren.
- We’re both the oldest of three sisters.
- Despite having no idea what we were doing, last September we successfully published our first book Lessons in Loveliness ~ Learning to Live a Lovely Life. We are now writing a second book.
A Little More About Alicia ~ I am a fifty-something retired teacher who lives with my husband in Carmel, Indiana. We are empty-nesters and homebodies who enjoy a life filled with simple pleasures.
A Little More About Natalie ~ I am thirty-something middle school teacher who lives in Swansea, Illinois. I am a busy mom of of three young children. I’m grateful for this busy, chaotic life.
I look forward to your blog ladies!
Good luck and much love

I enjoyed reading about your blog today in the Current in Carmel. English and literature is also one of my passions (BA in English), and I appreciate how you are using your talents to advocating class and refinement.
Here is a quote on loveliness that came to mind as I read your blog; it’s one of my favorites:
“The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity.” ~Margaret D. Nadauld
Now that I’ve subscribed to your blog, keep the tips coming!

Hello — Just saw the article about you in the Carmel Current. I love your attitude and your desire to bring loveliness into others lives and to encourage them to embrace loveliness as a way of being. Good stuff, but then I come to your website and see a Victoria’s Secret ad. Not so lovely. 😦

Hi Cindy, thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately, we do not control the ads on our site. They are run by WordPress, the blog site we use. We are sorry for the one advertised to you! We hope you have a happy new year—thanks for reading!

Thank you so much for your encouraging words and for visiting our site. Sorry about the Victoria Secret ad! We have a free Word Press blog and are not paid by the advertising they sneak in at the bottom of our blog. We’ve learned to just ignore it, and we hope you can, too! Eventually, we will upgrade and not have any advertising. We hope you stay with us, Cindy!
